From the beginning of
time, it is evident that as human beings, we naturally desire a life
that is pleasing to ourselves. We want to live a life where we can
find our own enjoyment and do things are own way – we don't always
like being told what to do or how to do things. But what so many of
us fail to consider is God. He has given us His word – The Bible –
and given us a guideline to live our lives by. It would be fair to
say that many people who hate being told what to do will especially
hate being told what to do by God. Despite our natural desires, by
choosing to live our own way over God's way is a “sin”.
We are humans who go on
sinning and because God is a just God, He gives us sinners the
sentence that we deserve – separation from Him. Us, sinners, who
are so filthy and unclean cannot be in heaven with a God who is the
Light of the World, One who is so pure! BUT. As God is a loving God,
by his undeserving grace and mercy upon us, He offers us a way out.
He gives us an escape route from hell and allows us to enter God's
perfect kingdom, where 'there shall be no more death, nor sorrow,
nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things
have passed away.' (Revelation 21:4).
God did this by sending
His son, Jesus, into the world to save sinners. He died and took the
sin that was on every believer and put them on Himself. He cleanses
people from their sin – taking away our wrong doings and making
himself sin for us. He has done all the work for us. We have done
nothing to deserve such kindness. God made the biggest sacrifice for
us. He watched His perfect Son, who had done no wrong, suffer for
people who have rejected Him completely.
“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he
suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him
who judges justly. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the
cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by
his wounds you have been healed.”
(1
Peter 2:22-24.)
But Christ dying on the
cross for us is not where the story ends. He rose again after three
days! This is the most significant and crucial event throughout the
whole of history. Jesus was raised from the dead as the ruler of the
whole world. God accepted Jesus' death as a payment for all of our
sins so we can have a personal relationship with Him. We now have the
chance to be seen as child of God, adopted into His family – and no
longer a rebel in the eyes of God.
The Bible promises that
one day Jesus will come again as a judge, revealing the glory of God
to the whole world. Everybody will see Him for who He really is! But
have you truly accepted Jesus? Are you going to
be in Heaven? Or are you going to spend all eternity in hell?
God did all the work
for us by sending His Son into the world, but we must act on this
sacrifice. We must recognise that we are sinners and realise that
without God as our Personal Saviour, we are headed for hell. And we
need to turn away from our sin, and come to God in prayer; praying
for forgiveness, thanking Him for sending His Son and asking Him to
be the Ruler of your life. So we have the choice of living a life
that is God's way, trying to please Him in all that we do!
OR.
You can live a life
that continues to please yourself. It is a scary thought, but a
powerful truth. If you still choose to reject God, the Bible says you
are going to spend all eternity without God in hell – a never
ending punishment! ('"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."' - Revelation 21:8).
I can whole heartedly say, the only true way you can find happiness and know real peace is if you choose God's way. Rejecting Him is the BIGGEST mistake you will ever make.
